Fermented foods—Sauerkraut and jalapenos.

Salsa—Made with locally grown and organic ingredients.

Olives—organic and directly from the grower in California.

Plants and Flowers—Culinary, medicinal, and pollinator plants, ready-made flower arrangements.

Place your order from now until Tuesday at noon for pickup on Wednesday from 4-7 pm at Nightbird Books in Fayetteville.

If you aren’t able to place an order, stop by to shop with us on Wednesday. We will have a variety of items for sale from the table.

The Wednesday Market:  Sunday Means It's Time to Order


Good afternoon!

Is it hot enough for you? Goodness gracious!

Last weekend, Joe and the boys and I made our annual pilgrimage to the mountains for the long Fourth of July weekend. We spent it with my Aunt Sharon and Uncle Steve in Peachtree, North Carolina (near Murphy). The temperatures were comfortably cool there, and in fact, when the sun went down, I needed a light jacket. It rained on and off all weekend, but we were fortunate enough to have a break in the weather to see the fireworks over Lake Chatuge at Hiawassee.

The warmth of visiting our extended family amid the coolness of the mountains was blessed relief to our hectic life.

We had a big family cookout with hamburgers, hot dogs, potato salad, coleslaw, chili, sliced heirloom tomatoes, watermelon, and all the rest of the typical fixings. For dessert, I made blueberry pies. You notice I said “pies”, with an “s”. We were cooking for about 15 people!

Anyway, here is the recipe for a simple, but incredibly delicious Blueberry Pie:

1 9-inch pie shell, unbaked
4 cups fresh blueberries, rinsed and patted dry
1 cup of sugar
1 8 oz. carton of sour cream
3 tablespoons of flour
2 tablespoons of melted butter
1/4 cup of plain bread crumbs
2 tablespoons of sugar

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Put the blueberries into the pie shell.

Mix together the cup of sugar, sour cream and flour and pour over the top of the blueberries. Combine the melted butter, bread crumbs and 2 tablespoons of sugar and mix well. Sprinkle over the top of the sour cream mixture. Place the pie on a foil covered cookie sheet (in case the pie boils over!) and bake until the center is firm and the crumb topping has browned, about 45 to 50 minutes. Let the pie cool to room temperature before serving. This pie is really scrumptious served with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream. Enjoy!

What’s up with the Salmon?
Back in Time Farm will be supplying Alaskan Wild Caught salmon through his son, Running Wild Alaskan Seafood, LLC.
This deliciously fresh salmon is carefully selected directly from the fishermen’s nets from the cold Alaskan waters before it ever enters the ship’s hold. Only the best is chosen to become part of " Running Wild Alaskan Seafood’s" premium offerings. The fish is immediately bled and iced down before making the short boat ride to the processor located in Homer, Alaska. Here it is quickly processed and flash frozen (to ensure freshness) then packed into coolers for the overnight trip to Georgia. This is the freshest salmon available without going to Alaska to catch it yourself. Red Sockeye salmon is packed with flavor and nutrition.
We are within a week or so of having this salmon at our very own market!The packages will be 8 ounces and sell for $9.50 a pack.
I have emailed all those interested that emailed me and I will be making sure that when they place their orders, they have priority. But there will be enough for Market sales. This will be the first catch and then we are hoping for a second catch 3 weeks later, but that isn’t guaranteed yet.
So watch for the email to buy coming in about a week or two.

Manchester Locally Grown online farmers’ market is now open for ordering. The market will be open until Tuesday at 10 pm, and pickup will be on Thursday from 3:00 till 4:30.

This year-round online farmers’ market offers eggs, herbal products, local milk, summer vegetables & greens, live plants, pork & beef products, and much more – all produced on local farms. We appreciate your support of your friends and neighbors who have grown and produced these items.

Milk and eggs; perennial plants, herb plants, and hanging baskets; beef and pork cuts; and more are available here! This week we have zucchini, 3 kinds of tomatoes, summer squash, 2 kinds of peppers, onions, 2 kinds of lettuce, 2 kinds of kale, cabbage, cucumbers, and beans! 3 types of dried herbs and 8 of fresh are also available to flavor those dishes! We have more variety than many large Saturday markets, and our items will be in your hands on Thursday! If you haven’t ordered from us lately, place an order this week for your share of the summer bounty.
